Warranty and Repair

Field & Sons Warranty & Repair

At Field & Sons, every piece of furniture we build is engineered for longevity, craftsmanship, and uncompromising performance. Your satisfaction matters to us, and we stand behind the quality of our products.

If your chair arrives with any defect in materials, workmanship, or shipping damage, we will replace the affected part—or the entire chair—at no cost within 30 days of receipt. Local customers are welcome to bring their chairs directly to our workshop for inspection, exchange, or repair. Returns in original, unused condition are also accepted within this 30-day period.

Built for Real Use—Backed for Real Life

Field & Sons seating is designed for the real world: sun, salt, sand, truck beds, campsites, docks, backyards, and the occasional high-energy beach gathering. Even with premium hardwoods and tactical-grade fabrics, all materials naturally experience wear over time.

To ensure long-term serviceability, we use removable stainless steel fasteners—not permanent rivets—so every chair can be fully disassembled for maintenance, refinishing, or fabric replacement. If your chair ever needs attention, replacement components are always available. Local customers may bring chairs to our shop for hands-on repair assistance whenever possible.

Chair Care

With proper care, your Field & Sons chair will provide many years of dependable comfort and rugged elegance. Please follow these guidelines to keep it performing at its best.

Wood Care – White & Red Oak

Our chairs are crafted from premium American hardwoods chosen for their strength, stability, and beauty. Wood exposed to heavy sunlight, moisture, or temperature swings will naturally weather over time.

  • Wood expands and contracts with humidity and heat, occasionally forming small “checks” (surface cracks). This is a normal characteristic of solid wood.

  • Regular oiling significantly slows weathering and maintains ideal moisture levels within the wood.

  • Indoor storage when not in use dramatically increases the lifespan of the frame.

  • Treat the wood with a penetrating oil or outdoor furniture preservative, applied especially to end grain.

Recommended finishes include:
Messmer’s UV Plus, Australian Timber Oil (Cabot), linseed oil, teak oil, or similar high-quality exterior wood treatments.

All are readily available at hardware and home improvement stores.

Fabric Care

Field & Sons uses Sunbrella®, CORDURA®, and other tactical-grade, solution-dyed performance fabrics. These materials are engineered for UV resistance, durability, and long-term outdoor use.

For best results, follow Sunbrella® or CORDURA® manufacturer cleaning instructions.

While the fabrics are extremely tough, note that airborne embers from campfires or fire pits can melt small spots—even on premium synthetics—so exercise caution around open flame.

Fasteners & Hardware

Our chairs are built with stainless steel bolts, nuts, and hardware that can be fully removed or replaced.

  • Periodically tighten fasteners if they loosen from repeated folding and unfolding.

  • Chairs may be permanently secured using thread-lock compounds if preferred.

  • Fasteners can be removed for refinishing or for replacing individual wood components.

Proper Chair Use

These simple guidelines will help protect your chair and prevent unintended damage:

Avoid Weight on the Front Crossbar

The front dowel is designed for structural stability—not for standing or pushing off with full body weight.

Match Recline Positions

Ensure both arm brackets are set to the same position. Mismatched angles twist the frame and may cause stress or damage.

Cup Holder Care

On models with integrated cup holders, avoid pushing up from the thin wooden strip or dropping the chair on its arm ends.

Store Indoors When Possible

Indoor storage is the single best step you can take to extend the life, appearance, and performance of your chair.
